Famous Jazz Clarinet Song?

Question: I'm looking for the name of this famous jazz song that features the clarinet. Can anyone name some songs? I can hear it in my head (I know, no help) but I have no idea how to find it. This song is popular and has been featured on many jazz compliation albums. I thought it was Benny Goodman but I could be wrong. It has a swinging type flow.

Answer: I know a lot of great songs recorded by some great jazz clarinet players. But, with what little information you give and with all the jazz clarinet songs recorded with a "swinging type flow" there has been in the last 60-80 years, there is just about no way to tell which player or song you mean! I'd love to help you, but how? Do you remember approximate year the song was recorded? Do any of these famous jazz clarinet players listed below sound like the one you're trying to remember?: Pete Fountain Acker Bilk Artie Shaw Eddie Daniels George Lewis Pee Wee Russell Johnny Dodds Jimmy Noone Ed Hall Sidney Bechet Omer Simeon IF you remember anything more about the song title, a couple words even, or can zero in on the date/time frame the song you are thinking of was recorded, or even the record label they recorded for; ANY bit of info you can remember about the clarinetist and the song title or song you are thinking above, will help us try and help you! Here are just a few songs Benny Goodman was famous for: Begin the Beguine Don't Be That Way Sing, Sing,Sing Jumpin' At The Woodside Jersey Bounce Stompin' At The Savoy King Porter Stomp Chistopher Columbus The Sheik of Araby Roll 'em One O'Clock Jump Avalon Blue Skies Stardust If you want, I can list a few songs by Pete Fountain and Acker Bilk, because sometimes, if people think a song was played by Benny Goodman and find it wasn't Benny; often they are thinking 20-30 years later and that would be in Acker Bilk and Pete Fountains time. Anyway, I don't want to make this too long, so will post it for now. If I can be of any more help somehow, just post a comment onto the end of this answer! Good luck! Sincerely, Jazzme 109
