How do you fix a 8mm tape??

Question: I have several 8mm tapes that are about 5 years old. I am trying to convert them to dvd but they are constatnly pausing when I play them. I have a tape from a few months ago that plays fine. Any tips on how I can fix these tapes would be greatly appreciated.

Answer: There are 8mm cleaner tapes you can probably buy at Wal-Mart or another local store. These tapes are like regular recording tapes, but instead of recording media, they clean the 8mm player by inserting the tape and pressing play. Also, try a demagnetizing kit. Your tapes may be affected by static, which can damage your tapes' playback ability.
